The Theatres Trust is the national advisory public body for theatres in the UK. It was set up by the Government through an Act of Parliament in 1976 and works to promote the better protection of theatres for the benefit of the nation.

The Trust provides its UK Theatres Small Grants scheme to support the costs of capital improvements in theatres run by charities and not-for-profit groups in the UK. The funded improvements must add demonstrable value to the organisations' work in local communities.

With continued support from the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation and the Charles Michael Holloway Trust the scheme has been extended to 2020.
