Grants are available for charitable projects and purposes in the area of West Berkshire and parts of North Hampshire.

Value Notes

There is a minimum of £50 but no maximum grant application figure which may be applied  for.

Grants in excess of £500,000 have previously been awarded.

Consideration is given to requests for revenue funding over a number of years, as well as one-off capital grants.

Extended Description

Grants are provided and administered by Greenham Common Trust and are available for charitable projects and activities in West Berkshire and parts of North Hampshire.

The scheme aims to fund projects that will benefit the community.

Key Criteria

Applications must be for charitable purposes. National charities are eligible to apply but only projects being undertaken by local branches will be considered. Although there is no fixed geographical boundary, the area of benefit is described as West Berkshire and parts of North Hampshire.

Eligible Expenditure

The following are examples of charitable purposes which the Trust will give grant aid for:

• The prevention of relief of poverty.

• The advancement of education.

• The advancement of health or the saving of lives.

• The advancement of citizenship or community development.

• The advancement of the arts, culture, heritage or science.

• The advancement of amateur sport.

• The advancement of human rights, conflict resolution or reconciliation, or the promotion of religious or racial harmony or equality and diversity.

• The advancement of environmental protection or improvement.

• The relief of those in need by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage.

• The promotion of the efficiency of the armed forces of the Crown, or of the efficiency of the police, fire and rescue services or ambulance services.

• Other purposes that are currently recognised as charitable or are in the spirit of any purposes currently recognised as charitable.

Match Funding Restrictions

There is no requirement for matched funding, but the Trust reserves the right to request it when it sees fit. The Trust welcomes its grants being used as matched funding to secure aid from other organisations where matched funding is stipulated as a condition of funding.


Generally projects will not be funded retrospectively.

Application Procedure

Applications are considered twice annually, normally in the spring and autumn.
