Description

The national organisation for Wheelchair sport, provides new sports wheelchairs, training and coaching to enable disabled children and adults to take part in sport.  Wheel Appeal is aiming to raise £6,000,000 to provide over 2,000 disabled people with a new sports wheelchair, training and coaching that will enable them to participate in sport and enjoy competitive and recreational sport.


Extended Description

The Wheel Appeal will either fund 'standard' manual sports wheelchair or provide a grant towards a 'bespoke' sports wheelchair.  Unfortunately the Wheel Appeal does not provide funds towards power wheelchairs.


Key Criteria       

Priority will be given to applications from the following:

  • Individuals wounded in the service of our country
  • Adults aged 18 and over who became disabled within the last two years
  • Adults aged 18 and over who have never owned a sports wheelchair
  • Disabled children who have never owned a sports wheelchair

Additional information:

  • The Wheel Appeal will only fund manual sports wheelchairs, handcycles and ice hockey sledges
  • The Wheel Appeal will provide successful applicant with either a 'standard' manual sports wheelchair or a grant towards a bespoke sports wheelchair

The maximum value of any grant will be £1,500, but due to limited funding it will not always be possible to make the maximum award
